弟子たちのなかにはイエスの復活を疑う者もいた。ガリラヤの山でイエスは復活の姿を現され、直接、弟子たちに語られた。

「権能 ἐξουσία エクスウシア」は「全権、支配権、主権、影響力、勢力、統治力」をあらわす。
「天と地」はイエスの権能が天的権威、地的主権に及ぶことを示す。イエスは復活され、すべての天的、地的権威が付与された。
英語「権能 authority」はラテン語 auctoritas 「保証、所有権、担保」に由来する語で「信ずべきもの」を意味する。信仰に implicit trust 「暗黙の信頼→絶対的信頼」はなじまない。

ひとりのみどりごがわれわれのために生れた、ひとりの男の子がわれわれに与えられた。まつりごとはその肩にあり、その名は、「霊妙なる議士、大能の神、とこしえの父、平和の君」ととなえられる。そのまつりごとと平和とは、増し加わって限りなく、ダビデの位に座して、その国を治め、今より後、とこしえに公平と正義とをもってこれを立て、これを保たれる。万軍の主の熱心がこれをなされるのである。
預言者イザヤが「その名は、霊妙なる議士、大能の神、とこしえの父、平和の君ととなえられる」と預言した「ひとりのみどりご」はイエスにおいてことごとく成就した。
