「二人または三人」
「二人または三人」がイエスの名によって集まりさえすれば、そこに主が居られるのではない。
この「二人または三人」の間には「心を一つにする συμφωνέω」が存在する。「教会」は集まる者すべてが「己の音」を持ち、「美しく響きあう一つのハーモニー」を奏でる群れである。指揮者はイエスである。

「わが名によりて集る所」
神は二三の人々の集まりの中にもおられる。
しかし、二三の人々でも多くの人々でも、「集まり」については共に警戒すべきである。「イエスの名による集まり」を装うことが多いからである。
神のいまず「小さな集まり」を見出すなら、あならは礼拝がどのようなものかを知るだろう。

イエスは「もし、あなたがたのうちふたりが、どんな事でも、地上で心を一つにして祈るなら、天におられるわたしの父は、それをかなえてくださいます」と約束された。
地にて二三人が心を一つにして祈るなら、父なる神はそれをかなえてくださる。
それは、地にて二人、三人の人が心を一つにして祈ったからではない。「二人また、三人がイエスの名によって集まる所に、イエスもその中におられる」からである。
イエスの聖名によって集まる、二人、三人の小さな集まりにも、イエスはその中におられる。
ましてや、大勢の人の集まる教会にイエスがおられないということがあるだろうか？
そのとき、はたして、本当に「イエスの聖名によって集まった」のかどうかを、各自が自身に問う必要があるのではないか。
教会だからといって、すべての集りが「イエスの聖名による集い」とは限らず、むしろ、しばしば、教会がイエスの愛される場に遠いという悲しい現実があることを認めないわけにはいかない。
イエスの教会であるかどうかは、ひとえに集う私自身にかかっているのである。
