「戯れの褒美」
王の命令は即座に実行される。バプセスマのヨハネの首は、酒の席で披露された少女の舞い対する戯れの褒美として皿にのせられた。
いのちの天秤は一枚の羽毛が乗っても、そのバランスを崩す。それはいのちが軽いという意味ではない。絶妙なバランスに守られて人は今日を生きるということである。

領主ヘロデはの兵士は、ただちにバプテスマのヨハネが収監されている獄に向かい、命令を実行した。
「遣わされた人」は「衛兵」である。（マルコ6:27）
王の命令は直ちに実行される。「王のくちびる」は「神の決定」だからである。王の命令が公平であればその国は堅く立つ。しかし、王が民の歓心を得ようとするなら、それを裁くのは神である。
