＜深く憐れみ＞
マルコの並行記事では「イエスは深くあわれみ、手を伸ばして彼にさわり」（マルコ1:41）とある。イエスは「深い憐れみ」を覚えながら御手を重い皮膚病の男の身体に置かれた。
＜彼につけて『わが意なり、潔くなれ』と言ひ給へば、癩病ただちに潔れり＞
「たちまち εὐθέως エウてオース」は、「εὐθύς まっすぐに」からくる言葉で、「直ちに、まっすぐに、正しく、たちまち、直後に」の意味を持つ。
重い皮膚病はイエスの口から「清くなれ」の御言葉が語られた直後に、まっすぐに、正しく彼のところに来て、彼を癒したのである。
「病を癒す」のギリシャ語は「θεραπεύω てラペウオー」であるが、ここでは「清められた καθαρίζω カたリゾー」が用いられる。
イエスは彼に「清くなれ καθαρίζω カたリゾー」と言われ、彼の「汚れ」は「清められた καθαρίζω カたリゾー」のである。

ユダヤ人は「צָרַעַת tsaraath 重い皮膚病」を患う人に6尺以内接近してはならなかった。しかし、イエスは「深い憐れみ」に動かされながら、患部に「手を差し伸べ」られ、そして直接患部に「触れ ἅπτω ハプトー」られる。
イエスは「私」に「深い哀れみの感動」に揺り動かされ手を伸ばされ患部に直接触れられる。

「医師の人格」
遺伝学者の柳澤桂子さんは「医師はそのひとの人格以上の医療はできないものである」と書いている。身体であれ精神であれ、医療はその患部に手を伸べ、触れることである。触れるのは「医師の人格」である。

イエスは「われらの病患（なやみ）をおひ我儕のかなしみを擔（にな）う」（イザヤ53:4 明治元訳聖書）お方であった。
