「多額の金」
ローマ兵隊たちからイエス復活の一部始終を聞いた祭司長、長老たちは、まず、ローマ兵に金を与えた。
祭司長たちはイスカリオテのユダの裏切りのためにわずかの金を支払い、ローマ兵には協力のために多額の金を握らせる。彼らはいつも計算して行動する。「彼らは金のために正しい者を売り、一足のくつのために貧しい者を売った」アモス2:6 新改訳聖書

「金になる情報」
ローマ兵たちがいち早くイエスの復活について、ローマの百卒長ではなく祭司長、長老たちに報告したのは、この情報が「金になる」と踏んだからであろう。彼らは金を支払ってくれる者に情報を持ち込む。

祭司長、民の長老たちはローマ兵からイエス復活の報を受けて、直ちに協議をし、まず、金を用意しローマ兵に渡した。ローマ兵たちにとっては、金を受け取ることが目的だったのであろう。
イスカリオテのユダがイエスを裏切ったときには、祭司長たちは銀貨三十枚を与えて、イエスを十字架につけ（マタイ26:14~16、マルコ14:11）、イエスが復活したとの報にはローマ兵たちに金を与える。この人たちはいつも、金銭で物事が動かせると信じている。そして、金銭で人は容易に動くのである。しかし、主イエスの復活という事実は金銭で何とかできる事柄ではないのである。
金によって築かれたものは金によって滅びる。
