「二人の強盗」
イエスとともに十字架にかけられた二人の強盗の耳にも、群衆が「もし神の子ならば己を救へ、十字架より下りよ」と叫ぶ声がとどいた。
そこで強盗の一人が「あなたはキリストではないか。それなら、自分を救い、またわれわれも救ってみよ」とイエスを罵った。太い犬釘が二人の強盗の手足を十字架に打ちつけ、痛みは二人の身体を貫いていた。救いなき痛みの中からも人は、一人は罵り、一人は祈る。

「奇妙な出来事」
イエスと共に十字架につけられた二人の強盗は奇妙な感覚を味わったにちがいない。同じ十字架にかけられたにもかかわらず、人々の目が自分たちの犯した罪に注がれないのである。そのことからでも、イエスが自分の罪を負ってくださっていることを思い知ることができたが、強盗の一人はイエスを罵っている。
