祭司長たちはユダが投げ込んだ「血の代金」を拾い集めたが受け取りは拒否した。「血の代金」はイエスに受け取っていただくしかあるまい。

もし、「銀三十枚」が「金三十タラント」であったら、祭司長たちは「これは血の代金だから、神殿の収入にするわけにはいかない」と言えただろうか？人は小さな金額には潔くても、大きな金額には巧妙な言い訳を思いつくものだ。

ユダが銀貨30枚を神殿の聖所に投げ込み自害したことを知ると祭司長たちには、「銀38枚」を拾い集め、「これは血の代価だから、神殿に収めるわけにはいかない」と言った。「血の價」は「血の代金、血の価格」の意味である。
「銀貨30枚」は主イエスの「血の代価」であり、ユダの「血の代価」ともなった。しかし、主イエスの死とユダの死はどれほど違っていたころだろうか。イエスは復活され、ユダは甦りのない死を遂げたのである。
