「剣をもとに収めなさい。剣を取る者はみな、剣で滅びる」
「亡びる ἀπόλλυμι アポるりゆーミ」は「ἀπό 完全に ＋ ὄλλυμι 滅ぼす」で「全くないものにする、破滅する、失われる、消滅する」の意味である。剣による解決は、あらたな剣を生み出す。
人間の歴史は「剣」によってつくられたといっても過言ではない。主イエスは福音をもって、人間の歴史の現実に今も立ちはだかるのである。
