「日常の経験」
人を「永遠の生命」と「永遠の刑罰」に分けるのは宗教的体験によるのではなく、その日常の経験による。
「日常の経験」を生み出さない信仰はむなしい。霊的な事柄は人間の行為と結びついており、二つを切り離してはならない。「主を畏れることは、知恵の初め。知恵は信仰のある者とともに母の胎内で造られた」 シラ書1:14 フランシスコ会訳聖書

「十字架直前のメッセージ」

王となった主人は玉座の右に分けられた人々は「永遠の生命に入り」、左に分けられた人々は「永遠の刑罰を受けるであろう」と宣告した。
「永遠 αἰώνιος アイオーニオス」は「絶えることのない、終わりのない」を意味し、「絶えることのないいのち」と「絶えることのない刑罰」が与えられる。
小さき者の中でも小さき者への行為が、「はかることのできないいのち」と「はかることのできない刑罰」をもたらす。
このメッセージから、わずか2日後に、イエスは捕らえれて十字架にかかられる。マタイ25:31~46の「王位を受けて帰還した主人」とは、十字架にかかられてから三日目に死より復活され、人々の前に姿を見せられるイエスの最後のメッセージである。
