「神我らと共に」
人々が飢え、渇き、宿もなく、裸で、病に苦しみ、捕らわれているとき、神もまた、飢え、渇き、宿もなく、裸で、病に苦しみ、捕らわれる。現代世界に広がる貧困は経済問題であるよりも人間の問題である。神もまた飢え、渇き給う。

「神を見舞う」
重い病気の人を見舞うのはつらい。しかし、イエスのたとえによれば、それは神に会いに行くことである。
病人を訪ねるのは、「わたしが病気をしたとき、わたしを見舞ってくれた」のと同じだとイエスはいわれるからである。しかし、それは「たとえ」ではなく、実際に私たちは、病院で神と会うことになる。
慰められ、いやされる必要があるのは私自身だ。

王の玉座の右に置かれる人々に、王は自分が「裸のときに着せ、病気のときに世話をし、牢にいたときに訪ねてくれた」と語る。
「玉座につかれた王」は、飢え、渇き、一夜を過ごす宿もなく、裸であり、病を得、投獄された「受難の王」である。
