＜歯ぎしり＞
「歯ぎしり ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων.」は「歯をぎりぎりと噛む」で、激しい後悔を意味する。
＜主人の温情＞
ルカ並行記事には、「主人の心を知りながら罪を犯した僕」と「知らずに罪を犯した僕」では受ける罰に違いのあることが記されている。

「悪しき僕の罪」
主人の食料庫から勝手に飲み食いした罪よりも、主人の僕たちに主人の思いとは別の苛酷な荷を負わせたことの罪のほうがはるかに重い。そのゆえに彼らは「火の燃える炉（ゲヘナ）」に投げ込まれるのである。（マタイ13:41~42）

酒盛りの最中に帰宅した主人は「悪しき僕とその仲間」を捕らえて厳しく罰し、彼らはそこで泣き叫び、歯がみするであろう。
主人は悪しき僕を捕らえて鞭打ち、「偽善者の報い」を与える。「人の子は天使たちを遣わし、つまずきとなるものすべてと不法を行う者どもを自分の国から集めさせ、燃え盛る炉の中に投げ込ませるのである。彼らは、そこで泣きわめいて歯ぎしりするだろう」（マタイ13:41~42）
「歯ぎしり ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων.」は「歯をぎりぎりと噛む」で、激しい後悔を意味する。
「悪しき僕」の罪は「主人の家」を欲しいままに貪る罪である。彼らは「終りの日」について、「当分の間は来ない」として神の民を養うこともせずに私腹を肥やす。しかし、「終りの日」は「すぐに来る」と日時を特定して神の民の心を支配することも、同じ「主人の家を欲しいままに貪る罪」である。
