「思いがけない日に」
この主人は悪しき僕の所業に気づいていた。それで、いつもとは違った時刻に突然帰宅したのである。悪しき僕の「所業」が彼を裁く。カインは野で弟アベルを殺害した。地に流されたアベルの血がカインの罪を告発した。

悪しき僕が人々を過酷に働かせ、家で酒飲み仲間と飲み食いしている、ちょうどその時に、主人が帰宅し、すべてを目撃する。ルカ福音書の平行記事では、主人は「真夜中」にも、「夜明け」にも、（ルカ12:38）、「思いがけない時、予期しない時」に戻ってくる。
主人は「当分の間は戻ってこない」として悪しき僕と酒飲み仲間が宴会を開いている最中に、いきなり戻ってきたのである。「悪しき僕」たちが飲み食いしたものや酒瓶を隠す間も与えず、善良な人々を虐げているのを胡麻化す隙も与えず、その行いの最中に入ってこられる。
人はみな、「思いがけない時、予期しない時」の中に置かれている。「良き僕」にとっては、それは神がその忠実をご覧になる祝福の時である。「悪しき僕」にとっては「悪を隠しようのないところに引き出される最悪の時」である。「良き僕」にとっては、何事もおこらないどの瞬間も「思いがけない時、予期しない」主と出会う祝福の時である。
