大事を託された僕に変化はないだろう。彼にとって小事も大事も異なるものではないからである。彼は小事に忠実であったように大事の務めを果たした。

婚礼に招かれて家を僕に託して出かけた主人が、思わない時に帰宅しても、主人の期待通りに家を守った忠実な僕に、主人は、次に全財産を任せようと考える。
兄弟たちに奴隷に売られたヨセフはエジプトでパロの夢を解き明かした。その解き明かしはエジプトに起こる豊作の7年の間に、続いて起こる飢饉の7年のために備蓄をすすめるものであった。（創世記41章）ヨセフはそれによって「忠実で賢明な僕」であることを証明し、パロはエジプトのすべてをヨセフに託し、エジプト全土を支配させた。
「忠実で賢明な僕」は主人の留守の間を託されるたけではなく、やがて、主人の全家を管理するようになる。神の家には「忠実で賢明な僕」に託される多くの働きがある。
