「福音の全体」
イエスの語られたことが「ことごとく」成就するまでは「私の時」は終わらない。信じる人は福音の全体を我が身に経験するのである。私はいつか完成するものとしてではなく、すでに成就したものとして福音を受け、導かれている。

主は私に「これらの事ことごとく成るまで、あなたの代（世代）は過ぎ去らない」と言われる。神が私に与えられた事が「ことごとくなる」まで、私の時は過ぎ去らない。しかし、私はその時がいつか知らない。私が主に取られるその時が、それらがことごとく成る時である。

イエスが教えてくださったしるしがことごとく起こるまでは、決してこの時代は滅びることがない。
「この時代」とは弟子たちがイエスの言葉を聞いている「今の時代」である。本節からも「終わりの日」が直接的にはAD70年のエルサレム陥落への預言であることは明白である。そして、エルサレム陥落の預言は来るべき「終わりの日」への預言として二重構造をもち、さらには「終わりの日」の預言はイエスの福音の成就をも意味するのである。
人がイエスのことばを聞いている時が、「今の時代」である。自分の時代には「終わりの日」は来ないと思ってはならない。イエスの教えてくださった「終りの日のしるし」はことごとく「今の時代」に起こるだろう。そして、栄光のイエスは待ち望む者の門に近づかれ、その門をくぐられるのである。
イエスを待ち望む者は、無花果の木の若葉に夏の接近を知るように、「今の時代」に神のことばのしるしを見分ける信仰のちからをもたなければならない。
