偽キリスト、偽預言者の目標は、何とかして「神の民」を自らに取り込むことである。そのために、彼らは「大いなるしるし」や「不思議」を行って見せる。人を誘惑するには、その人の欠点をつけばよい。ということは、「神の民」が、もっとも誘惑されやすいのは「しるしと不思議」であることになる。「しるしと不思議」を見たがる者は「大いなるしるしと不思議」を見せられるとひとたまりもない。
「大いなるしるしと不思議」は、すでに、イエス・キリストによって現わされた。それ以外の「しるしと不思議」を求める信仰は偽キリスト・偽預言者に容易に結びつくであろう。「しるしと不思議」によって信じる時代はイエス・キリストによって完了するのである。
