「和解の福音」
戦争は「国と国」の間に勃発するだけでなく、「民と民」の間にも起こる。人の心の「敵対」から「戦争」は起こるのである。
現代は「信仰の敵対」が深刻な戦争を引き起こす。我らがイエスから委ねられたのは「和解の福音」である。

「弱い人々」
現在、世界では数百万の難民が国外に逃れている。だが、膨大な時間と費用をかけ、命の危険をおかして祖国を脱出しても、逃れた国に溶け込むことは難しい。祖国に妻と子を残して「約束の地」を求めて一人で脱出した男性は、再び戦乱の祖国に戻ることを考えているという。「民が民に、国が国に敵対して立ち上がる」とき、無数の子どもや母親の弱い人々が存在する場を失って世界を放浪しなければならない。だが、この弱い人々によって次の世界は造られるだろう。

「謙虚な人」
戦争や敵対に加えて、飢饉や地震や疫病などが、「いろいろ恐ろしいことや天からの物すごいこと」が「前兆」として起こる。（ルカ21:10~11）それを聞いて慄かない者はいない。「終わりの日」は自然の中にも伝えられている。謙虚な人でなければ、飢饉や地震や疫病が告げる声を聞くことはできない。

終わりの日には戦争とともに、「民は民に」「国は国に」敵対して立ち上がる。さらに，飢饉や地震や疫病など「いろいろ恐ろしいことや天からの物すごい前兆があるであろう」。（ルカ21:10~11）
「民と民」、「国と国」が敵対して戦争が起こる。しかし、どのような戦争も、人間と人間が敵対して武器をもって対決するのである。戦争において問われるのは人間である。
敵対する人間の問題は自然界の混乱とも連携する。人間は最終兵器を手に入れようとして、遂に核を開発した。核は自然を最終的に汚染し「飢饉や地震」をもたらした。それでも、人間は人間を支配するために敵対することを止めない。今や、人間は自然からも告発される罪人となった。
いかなる警告を受け、いかなる悲惨を見ても、民は民と、国は国と、人間は人間と敵対することを止めないであろう。人間は人間を憎み、敵対する。しかし、人間が憎み、敵対するのは、人間であるよりも、むしろ、神である。人間の救済のために神から遣わされたイエスに、人々はゴルゴダの丘に十字架を用意した。「終りの日」は、十字架によってもたらされる「解放の日」でもある。
