「降りかかる血」
義のために流された血はいつまでも不法の者たちを訴え続ける。やがてその血は打つ者の上に降りかかるのである。知らないと言ってはならない。降りかかる血が私を訴えているのだ。

義人アベルから最後の殉教者預言者ザカリヤまで、神の遣わされた者たちはそれを否定する人々によって殺された。律法学者、パリサイ人たちは神の遣わされたイエスを否定することによって預言者を殺す者たちと共に立ち、その血の報いを受けなければならない。
「律法学者やパリサイ人たち」は信仰の内に存在する「蝮の子」である。彼らと無縁である信仰者はいない。しかし、主は「預言者の血の報復」が人の上に来る前に、なお、「預言者、知者、律法学者」を遣わされる。信仰者は殉教者の血によって守られるのである。
