「杯の駱駝」
「清める καθαρός カたロス」は「混じりけがない」ことが原意である。杯から「駱駝」を追い出さなければならないのだが、「駱駝」はいったん足を折って座り込むとめったなことでは動こうとしない。

「外を内包する内」
内さえ変えれば外はおのずと変わるというものではない。外も変える内の変革が求められるのである。それには「外を内包する内」というものを見出す必要がある。

「清める καθαρός カたロス」には「清らかにする」の意味に加えて「潔白、混じりけのない」の意味がある。さらに、この語には「本当の」の意味もある。内側を清めるということは、あるべき内側にすることである。内側があるべき本来の姿に戻るなら、外側はおのずとあるべき姿を取り戻す。
「清める καθαρός カたロス」は儀式的な清さをも意味する言葉である。内側の清めは、単なる道徳的清さによるのではなく、信仰の義による清さを指している。信仰による清さは道徳的清さを
