聖所にささげられた金と、神にささげられた金を聖なるものとする聖所と、どちらが尊いか。聖所にささげられたものは、神がそれを聖別するのであって、聖所が聖別するのではない。

「金銭の聖別」
あるカルト教団では信徒のささげた金銭を教祖が「聖なるもの」としてくださると教える。
しかし、金銭は汚れたものでなく、これを教祖が清めることも無意味である。金銭を集めるための方便にすぎない。
ささげられた金銭は聖なる目的のために使われることによって神に「聖別される」のである。ささげる者はそれを見届けなければならない。

「金銭を愛する」
信仰者は金銭の問題を正しく解決しなければならない。
金銭を第一にすべきではない。それは金銭を愛することである。
金銭を後回しにすべきではない。それも金銭を愛することである。

「信仰の中心」
信仰の熱意はしばしばその本質を見失う。信仰を守ろうとする熱意が先行し中身を失う。しかし、本質さえとらえれば熱意はどうでもよいというのではない。信仰の中心をとられえる者の思いはいつも熱い。

律法学者やパリサイ人たちは、神殿を指して誓うなら果たす義務はないが、神殿の黄金を指して誓うなら、その誓いは果たさなければならないと厳命した。そこには神殿よりも、黄金を尊ぶ思考が見えている。
正しい信仰を判断するのは難しいことではない。もし、その信仰が金銭を求めるならば、直ちに離れるがよい。その信仰は偽りである。もし、その信仰が偉大な神殿をたてようと金銭を募るなら、その信仰は紛い物である。聖なる神は偉大な神殿を必要としない。しかし、持てるものを惜しんで捧げることをしない信仰は偽りである。持てるもののすべては神から来たのである。
ペテロは「美しの門」で施しを求めて座っていた男に「金銀はわたしには無い。しかし、わたしにあるものをあげよう。ナザレ人イエス・キリストの名によって歩きなさい」と言った。（使徒3:6 口語訳聖書） そして、ペテロが彼の手を取って立たせると、生まれつき足のきかない男はまっすぐに立って歩き始めた。（使徒3:1~10）ペテロは金銭にまさるものを神から受け、おしみなく施した。
