信仰に導かれた者で、無理やり引っ張ってこられなかった人がいるだろうか？ 神の御手が「かきねのあたり」でうずくまっていたわたしの手をとられたのだ。

「ふさわしくない者」
「見かけた人」とはルカ福音書では「貧しい人、体の不自由な人、目の見えない人、足の不自由な人」（ルカ14:21 フランシスコ会訳聖書）である。
神の国にふさわしい者が拒絶したので、神の国に最もふさわしくない者が招かれる。
内なる「貧しい人、体の不自由な人、目の見えない人、足の不自由な人」よ、喜べ、神が呼んでおられる。あなたたちこそ神に招かれている。

すると、王は、「道やかきねのあたりに出て行って、この家がいっぱいになるように、人々を無理やりにひっぱってきなさい」と命じたのである。
王は婚礼に、まず、「ふさわしい者」を招待したが、彼らは来なかった。すると、王は通りに出て行って、「良い人でも悪い人でも」、とにかく「出会った人々」をことごとく連れてくるようにと命じた。
それでも、宴席は埋まらないと、「道やかきねのあたりに出て行って、この家がいっぱいに
なるように、人々を無理やりにひっぱってきなさい」と命じ、ようやく婚礼の披露宴の席は一杯になった。
王の宴席はとてつもなく広い。
今や、そこには、とても「ふさわしい」とは思えない人々で満たされた。中には嫌がるのを「強いて」連れてこられた者たちも少なくなかったのである。
「強いて連れてこられる」のでなければ、福音には出会わなかったと告白する人は少なくない。
福音に最も遠いと思う者が、最も福音に近い。神の国で「誇る者」のないためである。
