すると、そこにゼベダイの子らの母が、その子らと共にイエスに近寄り、拝して、「お願いがあります」と言った、

イエスの受難予告の直後に、ゼベダイの息子たちと母がイエスのところに来てひれ伏した。
ゼベダイはヤコブとヨハネの父である。その母はサロメ（マルコ15:40）であろう。サロメはイエスの母マリアの姉妹であったとすればヤコブとヨハネはイエスの従兄弟である。
サロメはイエスの十字架を見守った三人の女性の一人であり、イエスの身体に油を塗りに行き、そこでイエスの復活を知ることになる。（マルコ16:1~8）
＜何かを願おうとした＞
ゼベダイの息子ヤコブとヨハネと母サロメはイエスに「先生、わたしたちがお頼みすることは、なんでもかなえてくださるようにお願いします」（マルコ10:35）と願い事があることを告げた。

「ある願い事」
イエスがエルサレムに上られると知ったヤコブとヨセフの母サロメは、いよいよイエスが「王座にお着きになる時」が来たと考え、矢も楯もたまらず、二人の息子を伴ってある「願い事」のためにイエスのところに来たのである。
真の危機が迫るときには、別の危機も煮詰まっていく。

「思い違い」
ゼベダイの妻とその子らは大変な思い違いをイエスに持ち込む。人の想像することの大半は現実ではない。しかし、思い違いから生まれる願望ほど強く人を動かすものはない。
イエスは「聞かない耳」を「聞く耳」に「見えない目」を「見る目」に開かれる。そうして私は現実を想像する。

イエスの受難予告の直後に、ゼベダイの息子たちと母がイエスのところに来てひれ伏した。
ゼベダイはヤコブとヨハネの父である。その母はサロメ（マルコ15:40）であろう。サロメはイエスの母マリアの姉妹であったとすればヤコブとヨハネはイエスの従兄弟である。
ゼベダイの息子ヤコブとヨハネと母サロメはイエスに「先生、わたしたちがお頼みすることは、なんでもかなえてくださるようにお願いします」（マルコ10:35）と願い事があることを告げたのである。
サロメは、イエスが処刑されるために捕らえられると弟子たちが蜘蛛の子が散るように逃げ出す中、そこに留まり、イエスの十字架を見守った三人の女性の一人であり、イエスの身体に油を塗りに行き、そこでイエスの復活を知ることになった女性である。（マルコ16:1~8）
かくもイエスを慕い、敬愛するサロメは、イエスがエルサレムで十字架につくと知って、心を乱されたのは想像に難くない。
サロメの心にあったのは、イエス亡き後の「二人の息子、ヤコブとヨハネ」の行く末を案じる「母の心」だった。
イエスに来る者は、まず、自身をもってイエスに近寄り、自身に語られるイエスのことばを聞くことを「唯一の願い」としなければならない。主の祝福はそれに伴って「すべての願い」に及ぶだろう。
