人は自身に結婚の秘儀を内蔵している。神は男と女をそのような存在として創造されたからである。

「結婚の祝福」
結婚は神による創造のみ業である。これをまっとうするのもまた神のみ業による。
神は結婚を祝福し、それによって人間を祝福されたのである。人は結婚において「人間とは何か」の神の応答を与えられる。

パリサイ人たちはイエスに離縁に関する彼らの神学論争にイエスを巻きこもうと試みる。
しかし、イエスは人間の創造の初めから、この問題にお答えになる。
神は天と地の創造のはじめに、人を男と女に創造された。
「神は人をご自身のかたちとして創造された。神のかたちとして彼を創造し、男と女とに彼らを創造された。神は彼らを祝福された。神は彼らに仰せられた。「生めよ。ふえよ。地を満たせ。地を従えよ。海の魚、空の鳥、地をはうすべての生き物を支配せよ。」 創世記1:27~28 新改訳聖書
神は人間を、「男という人間」「女という人間」に創造された。神は男としての人間、女としての人間を祝して「生めよ。ふえよ。地を満たせ」と言われた。男としての人間、女としての人間は神の祝福の中にあって存在を全うする。
