王は家来に同情し、寛大にも彼を赦したばかりか、一万タラントンの借財を放棄してやった。
バークレーによれば一万タラントンは「王の身代金以上の金額」であるという。
「深い憐れみ σπλαγχνίζομαι スプらンくニゾマイ」から信じがたい寛容が生まれる。σπλαγχνίζομαι スプらンくニゾマイ は「σπλάγχνον 腸、内臓」から来た言葉で、それは人の内臓にあって、人を動かすものであった。人間存在の中心にある神的な感情である。

「肩代わり」
主人は家来の借財を免じてやった。注意しなければならないのは、主人は借財を「放棄」したのではなく、主人が家来の借財を「肩代わり」したことである。
神は私の果たし得ないことを「完済」されるのである。
人間を完成するのは、これを創造し給う神である。人間は神の 「深い憐れみ splagcni,zomai スプらンくニゾマイ 内臓、はらわたまで動かされる愛」がなければ完成しない。

ひれ伏して返済猶予を求める僕に、王はあわれんで、すべての負債を免除すると申し渡した。
王は僕に同情し、寛大にも彼を赦したばかりか、一万タラントンの借財を放棄してやった。
バークレーによれば一万タラントンは「王の身代金以上の金額」であるという。
「一万タラント」のお話は、「許し」についてのたとえである。
神は悔い改める人の罪を許される。そして、人に「許しの実」を求められる。「一万タラントの許し」を与えられた人は、それと同量の「実」をむすのである。
しかし、神が清算を始められると、人は許されたと同量の実どころか、わずかの実もつけていないことに気づく。
神は清算を迫り、ついに人は猶予を求める。しかし、たとえ猶予されたところで支払える量ではない。神の「許し」は日々新たに与えられる恵みである。人はそれにどのようにお答えできようか？
神はそのような人をご覧になり、深く憐れまれる。
「深い憐れみ σπλαγχνίζομαι スプらンくニゾマイ」は「σπλάγχνον スプラグケナ（内臓、はらわた）まで動かされる」からきた言葉である。
神は、はらわたを動かされるほどの深い感動をもって人を憐れまれた。
そして、人の返済不能の「許しの実」をも放棄され、免除されるのである。
神の「許し」の深さを知った人は、もはや自分が「許しの実」として結ぶものがいかに貧しくあっても、それを無意味とは思わないだろう。
