王は借財を返済できない負債者に自身はおろか、妻も子どもたちも、持てるものの一切合財を「売り払って」返済するようにと命じる。妻や子どもも売り払わなければ返済できないほどの借財は罪である。
ベン=シラの知恵には「おのれにとりて難きに過ぐるものを求むな、またおのが力の及ばざるものを探るな」（ベン=シラの知恵3:21）とある。

「私の知らない担保」
「一万タラントの借財」は自分をはじめ、妻子からすべての所有を売り払っても払いきれない。主人は、何を担保にそれほどの金を家来に貸したのだろうか。
私の知らない「担保」があって、神は「一万タラント」を「私」に貸し出されたのである。

人は年老いてみると、払いきれない借財を負っていることに気づく。持てるものすべてを売却しても払いきれるものではない。人はみな自分の「一万タラント」を背負っている。返済できそうにないものは背負っていくしかあるまい。

王は借財を返済できない負債者に自身はおろか、妻も子どもたちも、持てるものの一切合財を「売り払って」返済するようにと命じる。
ベン=シラの知恵には「おのれにとりて難きに過ぐるものを求むな、またおのが力の及ばざるものを探るな」（ベン=シラの知恵3:21）とある。
妻や子どもも売り払わなければ返済できないほどの借財は罪である。
しかし、なぜ王はそれほどの資金を僕に貸したのだろうか？
その疑問は、神は何故「私」に「一万タラント」のも匹敵する罪を許されたのかという問いに通じる。
神は、私に「罪の許し」の返済を求められるのである。
神の取立ては厳しい。王が僕に自分も妻子も持ち物もすべて売り払って返済するように求めるように、持てるもののすべてをかけて「罪の許し」の実を結ばなければならない。
神が私に「一万タラント」のも匹敵する罪を許されたの、私が「許しの返済」としての「実」を豊かに結ぶことができると知っておられるからである。
