「タラントのたとえ」（マタイ２５：１４～３０）に教えられるように、それぞれのいのちは神からその人に預けられたものである。やがて神はそれぞれの報告を聞くためにやってこられる。

神は「それぞれの行い」に従って報われる。「行い pra/xij プラクシス」には「事情、状態、様子」の意味を含む言葉である。各自の「行動」はそれぞれの「事情」のもとになされるもので、一つの「行動」は他と同じではない。神は「私」の「事情、状態、様子」を無視なさらない。人の行いごとに報われる。

イエスは十字架の受難の後に、復活されることへの言及と思われる。イエスは十字架にかかられるが、三日の後に死から甦り、弟子たちに姿を現され、人々はその信仰の行いに従って報いを受ける。
信仰の歩みは多くが人々の目から隠されている。「信仰の行為」は報いを期待しない行為である。
すべては「隠れたるにいます神」の前になされる。
「信仰の行為」は行うと同時に忘れるがよい。
「神は私を決して忘れられることがない」、それだけで充分である。
