＜マガダン地方＞
マガダン Μαγαδάν は平行記事マルコ8:10では「ダルマヌタの地方」になっている。しかし、両地ともに場所を特定することはできない。
イエスが四千人の給食の後、直ちに群衆を解散させたのは、群衆が「自分たちの王」にするためにイエスを連れて行こうとしたからである。（ヨハネ6:15）

群衆はイエスを「自分たちの王」にしようと願った。（ヨハネ6:15）
食料問題を解決してくれる者こそが、群衆の望む王である。だが、七つの小さなパンから国民の日常のパンを取り出して与えてくれる者を「王」と願う民は、もはや良き国民ではないだろう。
そのような願いからイエスは離れて行かれる。

食事が終わると、イエスは群衆を解散させ、ご自身は弟子たちと舟でマガダン地方に行かれた。

イエスは人影もまれな地方に退かれたのである。
イエスが四千人の給食の後、直ちに群衆を解散させたのは、群衆が「自分たちの王」にするためにイエスを連れて行こうとしたからである。（ヨハネ6:15）
群衆は自分たちの「食」を満たしてくれる者を「王」としようとする。
だが、イエスはそのために、4000人の人々に「パンと魚」を与えられたのではない。
人はまず、神の与えてくださるものを求むべきである。必要なものはすべて、それに添えて与えられる。
