サロメは領主ヘロデの誓いを母ヘロデヤに告げた。そしてサロメは母ヘロデヤにそそのかされて、「バプテスマのヨハネの首を盆に載せてここに運んできて賜りますように」と言った。

「唆す προβιβάζω プロビバゾー」は「前へ進ませる」こと、指図や煽動によって事態を思うままに進ませようとする。
＜バプテスマのヨハネの首を盆に載せて＞
オスカー・ワイルドの戯曲『サロメ』では、ユダヤのエロド王（＝ユダヤ領主アンティパス・ヘロデ）が異母兄の妻エロディアス（＝ヘロデヤ）を娶った事を非難し投獄されたヨカナーン（＝洗礼者ヨハネ）と、エロディアスの娘（前夫との子）サロメの恋物語として描かれている。
宴の舞いへの褒美としてヨカナーンは斬首され、サロメはその首に口づけする。
「あゝ！ヨカナーン、ヨカナーン、お前ひとりなのだよ、あたしが恋した男は。ほかの男など、みんなあたしには厭はしい。でも、お前だけは綺麗だった。…この世にお前の体ほど白いものはなかった。お前の髪ほど黒いものはなかった。この世のどこにもお前の口ほど赤いものはなかった。お前の声は、不思議な馨りをふりまく香炉、そしてお前を見つめてゐると不思議な楽の音がきこえてきたのに！あゝ！どうしてお前はあたしを見なかつたのだい、ヨカナーン？手のかげに、呪ひのかげに、お前はその顔を隠してしまつた。神を見ようとする者の目隠しで、その眼を覆うてしまったのだ。たしかに、お前はそれを見た、お前の神を、ヨカナーン、でも、あたしを、このあたしを……お前はたうとう見てはくれなかったのだね。」（オスカー・ワイルド 『サロメ』 福田 恆存訳）
ワイルドは、サロメに、ヨカナーンは「神を見ようとする者の目隠し」によって「ヨナカーンの神」は見たが、サロメを見ようとはしなかったと語らせる。聖職者とは「神を見ようとする者の目隠し」によって目隠しされた者のことだろうか？

「怨嗟の声」
ヘロディアはバプテスマのヨハネを殺害するだけでなく、その首を盆に載せてヘロデの誕生日の宴会場に運ばせ晒し者にしようと企む。
英語で「恨み」は三つの言葉がある。grudge は他者から受けた仕打ちに対して抱く恨みであり、malice は理由もなく他者に害を与えようとうする悪意であり、spite は嫉妬や怒りから他人に仕返しをしようとする意図的な悪意である。
古フランス語 grounchier は、ゲルマン語「grunt ぶーぶー鳴く」、「growl うなる」とともに擬声語である。
ヘロデヤの心には押さえることのできないヨハネへの怨嗟の声が「うなり声」となって充満していた。

「唆す προβιβάζω プロビバゾー」は「前へ進ませる」こと。ヘロデヤは娘サロメの背中を押す。「唆す者」は物陰から事態の進展を見つめる。
ヘロデヤにはサロメがおり、サロメにはヘロデヤがいる。互いに相手の背を押して進む。

サロメは領主ヘロデの誓いを母ヘロデヤに告げた。そしてサロメは母ヘロデヤにそそのかされて、「バプテスマのヨハネの首を盆に載せてここに運んできて賜りますように」と言った。
「唆す προβιβάζω プロビバゾー」は「前へ進ませる」こと、指図や煽動によって事態を思うままに進ませようとする。
サロメは母親の扇動に無分別に従うような娘ではない。サロメは自分が何を領主ヘロデに求めているのか、母ヘロデヤの扇動が何を意味するかを充分に分かっていたに違いない。
そして、領主ヘロデが「誓い」をたてた以上、この驚くべき要求が失敗に終わることは決してないことを見通していた。
自身を超えるような権力に生きる人には、常にサロメの世界への誘惑がある。
