「切齒 ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων」は「歯を噛む」で、英語ではthe grinding of the teeth である。
歯を強くかみあわせて悔しがる。
「切歯扼腕」は「史記」張儀伝から、「歯ぎしりをし腕を強く握り締めて怒り、くやしさ、無念さ」をあらわす。

「悪い者」は決して「後悔」などしない。しかし、「燃え盛る炉の中」では「悪い者」でさえもが「泣きわめいて、歯ぎしりする」。「悪い者」に起こる「泣きわめき、歯ぎしり」こそが「燃え盛る炉」である。

「審判の炉」
「審判」は「燃えさかる炉」と表現される。それは「焼き尽くす火」である。燃えさかる火は一瞬にして「投ぜられたもの」を焼き尽くし、跡形もなく存在を消す。「嘆きと歯ぎしり」は火に焼かれる苦悩というよりも、その存在を瞬時に消されることへの自責の思いか。

自分について「哀哭・切齒することある」ならば、希望はある。まだ「火の爐に投げ入れられて」はいないからだ。悪しき者は「火の爐に投げ入れられる」までは、何についても「哀哭・切齒すること」などしない。

人には「正しき人」の真中にいる「悪しき人」の絆を解くことは誰にもできない。それをなされるのは神御自身である。そのとき、人は自らから分かたれて歯ぎしりする「内なる悪しき者」の泣く声を聞くだろう。
