集められた「躓きを与えるもの」「不法を行うもの」は審判の火にの燃える炉に投げ込まれる。そこで「躓きを与えるもの」「不法を行うもの」の泣き、歯ぎしりする声が聞こえる。

「歯ぎしり ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων」は「歯を ὀδούς オドウス」を「βρυγμός ブリゆグモス」で「歯がみ」である。強い後悔をあらわす。

「後悔と悔い改め」
ことわざに「後悔と槍持ちは先に立たず」という。あとからやってくる「後悔」はたいして役には立たない。
ギリシャ語には「後悔」を意味する二つの言葉、「μεταμέλομαι メタメろマイ」と「μετανοέω メタノエオー」がある。「μεταμέλομαι メタメろマイ」は「μετά 交換 ＋ μέλομαι 気にする」で「心を入れ替える、後悔する」で、「μετανοέω メタノエオー」は「μετά 変化 ＋ νοέω 理解、考え、思惟」で「心を変える、悔い改める」こと。
彼らは「燃える炉の中」へ投げ込まれ「泣きわめいて歯ぎしり」して「μεταμέλομαι メタメろマイ」するが、「μετανοέω メタノエオー 悔い改め」はしない。

だが、「躓きを与えるもの」と「不法を行うもの」の教えは人の心にある。人は「躓きを与えるもの」と「不法を行うもの」の教えにこそ集まり、耳を傾けたがるのである。審判はそのような人の心に始まるだろう。
内なる毒麦を焼く痛みを恐れず、神のことばのよき実を結ぶ者でありたい。
