イエスを包む空気には不穏な動きがあった。家を出て湖のほとりに座っておられるイエスには孤独の影があった。
＜その日イエスは家を出でて＞
イエスが出られた「家」が誰の家かはわからない。イエスは居るべき家を持たれなかった。
＜海邊に坐したまふ＞
「海 θάλασσα たらスサ」はガリラヤ湖である。
イエスはガリラヤ湖畔に「座って」おられた。
イエスは腰を下ろして海を眺めておられたのではない。
「座る κάθημαι カてーマイ」には「教える」の意味がある。
ユダヤのラビが人々を教えるとき、座るのが正式な姿だった。
そこで塚本虎二訳は「湖のほとりに坐って（教えて）おられたが」として、このとき、イエスがラビのように座って「教えられていた」とする。

「膝詰めで」
「座る κάθημαι カてーマイ」は、当時のラビ達が教えるときの姿勢だった。イエスもまた、教えるために座られる。「この群集を見て、山に登られた。腰をおろされると、弟子たちが近くに寄ってきた。そこで、イエスは口を開き、教えられた」（マタイ5:1~2）
イエスは私と「膝詰め」で話される。

英語で「膝詰め談判」は「face-to-face talk」で顔と顔をあわせる「直接談判 direct negotiations」である。
イエスは座され、私と「face-to-face talk」される。

イエスが出られた「家」が誰の家かはわからない。イエスは居るべき家を持たれなかった。
「海 θάλασσα たらスサ」はガリラヤ湖である。

湖のほとりに座っておられるイエスには孤独の影が感じられる。
パリサイ人と律法学者たちはイエス殺害計画を秘密裏にすすめていた。それを察知した母マリヤとイエスの兄弟たちはイエスを諫めようとしてやってきた。群衆はあいかわらず癒しの奇跡を見たがって様々な病人を運んできた。しかし、イエスの心は群衆には届かなかった。
しかし、イエスは腰を下ろしていたずらに海を眺めておられたのではない。
「座る κάθημαι カてーマイ」には「教える」の意味がある。
心くじけるような人々の心にも、イエスは変わらずに教えようとなさる。
イエスの教えは、「聞く耳をもつ人々」に乞われて語られたものではない。絶望的に霊的貧困にある人々に、イエスは諦めることなく語り続けられるのである。
