「命 ψυχή プスゆけー」は「生命、魂、精神、いのちそのもの、自我、自己、思い、生命の根源としての霊魂、精神」の意味。
＜我がために生命を失ふ者はこれを得べし＞
「いのち」は神からのあずかりものである。いのちは自身のものとしてこれを救おうとするものはそれを失う。
神から託されたいのちは、その目的にかなっていきるべきである。
「神のためにいのちを失う」は「自分を生きる」の意味である。

「愛の原則」
怒りや憎しみに決断はいらない。しかし、愛するには決断を必要とする。愛せないのは性格の問題ではなく、愛し愛される術の問題でもない。その第一歩は、ある人のために尽くそうと決心することであろう。自分のいのちを失えばそれを得るというのが愛の原則です。こんなに尽くしているのに愛が報われないと嘆くのは、まだ自分を失っていないのかもしれない。今は報われなくても、あなたはもう「それ」を自分のものにしている。

自分のいのちを自身のために得ようとする者はそれを失い、自分のいのちを生きる者はこれを得る。
「いのち」は神の息として人に吹き込まれたもので、それによって人は「生きる者」とされた。（創世記2:7）
「いのち」は神からのさずかりものであって、自身のものではない。
神から授かったいのちは神に返されるのである。
「自分の命を得ようとする者」とは自分のいのちを自分のものとしようとする者のことである。彼はそれを失う。
「神のためにいのちを失う」とは、自分のいのちを神の内に見出す者のことである。彼はそれを見出す。
それは、「自分を生きる」の意味である。
「命 ψυχή プスゆけー」は「生命、魂、精神、いのちそのもの、自我、自己、思い、生命の根源としての霊魂、精神」の意味。
「命 ψυχή プスゆけー 生命、魂、精神、いのちそのもの、自我、自己、思い、生命の根源としての霊魂、精神」を自己の内にではなく、これを創られた神に見出す者はいのちを得る。
