[d]Disciple does not always refer to a true believer, but may also be used to refer to someone who is merely a student or learner.
[e]Possibly an idiom meaning something like, “after my father dies and after I observe the traditional mourning period and after I receive my inheritance, then I will do such and such.” This was probably nothing more than a petty excuse to avoid making a commitment to Jesus and had nothing to do with the condition of the man’s father (who was probably fine).

律法学者に続いて一人の弟子がイエスに「主よ、先づ、往きて、我が父を葬ることを許したまへ」と言った。「父の葬りがすめばあなたに従います」と言うのだ。

　＜わたしに従ってきなさい＞

ルカ9:59から、弟子の一人が「主よ、まず、父を葬りに行かせて下さい」と言ったのは、イエスが彼に「わたしに従ってきなさい」と言われたことへの応答であったことがわかる。

　＜先づ、往きて＞　我が父を葬ることを許したまへ

「先づ、往きて　ἐπίτρεψόν μοι πρῶτον ἀπελθεῖν」は「まず、行くことを許せ」である。

　＜ローマ時代の葬儀＞

古代ローマ人は埋葬されなかった死者の魂は三途の河を渡ることができず、少なくとも百年は地上を彷徨うと信じられ、葬儀は厳格な定めに従って守られた。死者が出ると大声で死者の名前を呼び、死者の口に接吻して最後の息を吸い取った。遺体は洗われ、香油を塗り、白い衣を着せ、玄関に安置し、死者の口には地獄の河を渡るための貨幣をふくませ、また地獄の犬をなだめるための小麦でつくったケーキを口に入れた。ローマ人は生きている間に墓をつくったという。

ユダヤでは死者は布で包まれ、その日のうちに埋葬された。友人たちは遺体を担ぎ、詩篇の句を唱えながら墓に向かった。それからの七日間は荒布を体に巻き、灰をかぶり、断食して悲しみを表現した。一年間は喪の期間として娯楽を避けた。
