目が濁っていれば暗いように、もし「内なる光」が濁っていれば全身が暗い。その闇はどれほどのことであろうか。

「ὀφθαλμός オふたるモス」は「視力、視界」であり「理解力、心の目」である

「濁っていれば　πονηρός ポネーロス」は「πόνος　苦労、非常な悩み」からくる言葉。物事を捉える「視力、視野」が労多く役に立たたず、体全体（存在）が闇に閉ざされ、はっきりと分からなくなった状態。

目が「悪い、邪悪」である。

「消える　σκότος スコトス」は「暗い」こと。「秘密裏の、はっきりとわからない、無知、欺瞞、死後の」暗黒から「よみの闇、罪」を示す。
